Sonja Morgan’s NYC Townhouse Hits Auction: Must-See Details!

Former ‘Real Housewives of New York City’ star, Sonja Morgan, has decided to auction her magnificent Upper East Side townhouse next month. The five-story home located at 162 E. 63rd St. will go under the digital hammer on May 29th by Concierge Auctions in partnership with luxury broker Adam Modlin from the Modlin Group.

The online auction kicks off on May 15th without a set minimum, and initial bids are projected to fall between $1.75 million to $3.75 million, as stated by Paulina Kimbel, the VP of business development at Concierge Auctions.

Morgan, best known for her time on the reality TV show, shared that this townhouse held countless cherished memories, including entertaining esteemed guests like heads of state, royalty, and Fortune 500 CEOs throughout the years. Remarkably, the dwelling was a backdrop for numerous filmings by NBC for Bravo and Peacock TV. After deciding to part ways with the property, Morgan expressed her readiness to pass on this gem to a new owner to relish its turnkey beauty.

The grand townhouse features five bedrooms and five and a half baths. It includes a wood-burning fireplace with an 18th-century marble mantel, a spa-like bath, and a living room area that leads out to an enchanting garden. The residence also houses intricate details like mosaic floors and patterned hardwood floors in the foyer, adding to its allure.

Despite facing financial challenges, including a bankruptcy filing in 2010, Morgan persevered and managed to retain ownership of the property. Over the years, the listing price fluctuated, with last year’s listing at $7.5 million before transitioning to auction now.

The property boasts a sauna, a gym, a library, and other lavish features including custom mosaic floors, marble floors, hand-painted silk wallpaper, and Venetian plastered walls. Not to forget the two master baths with nautical motifs honoring Morgan’s ex-husband’s yachting legacy. Additionally, the cozy chef’s kitchen and dining al fresco in the garden offer a luxurious lifestyle within the bustling city.

With a total area of 4,650 square feet, the townhouse is a spacious abode that also includes an 800-square-foot basement and a beautifully landscaped 575-square-foot garden complete with a fountain and a koi pond. The exquisite design details extend to silk and cedar-lined closets with mahogany drawers, creating an ambiance of opulence and sophistication.

The townhouse layout is divided into different levels, each offering unique amenities such as a solarium with floor-to-ceiling windows, a formal dining room with a woodburning fireplace, a sunlit eat-in kitchen, and multiple bedroom suites with their own distinct features and comforts.

After years of being a part of Morgan’s life journey, from hosting illustrious gatherings to being a refuge during turbulent times, the townhouse is now ready for a new chapter. As the auction date nears, interested buyers eagerly await the opportunity to own a piece of New York City history steeped in elegance and charm.
