Grace Hightower's $20M Central Park Oasis Up for Grabs!

Grace Hightower, known for her vibrant presence and connection to Central Park’s greenery, is embarking on a new journey. Following her split from Robert De Niro, she has decided to part ways with their shared Upper West Side home, putting it on the market for $20 million.

Hightower, at 69, is ready to start a fresh chapter, eager to craft her own vibrant oasis. Expressing her desire for personal expression, she aims to create a space where cobalt blue mixes with pink, a dream she’s determined to fulfill.

Living in the spacious duplex co-op since 2006, Hightower is pricing it sensibly, hoping to attract a wide range of buyers. Despite originally purchasing the property for $20.9 million with De Niro, she aims to sell it without profit, in a move uncommon in the real estate market.

The decision comes as the co-op market faces challenges, with buyers increasingly seeking flexibility, a trend more prevalent in the condominium sector. The shifting preferences of buyers have led to a significant drop in co-op prices, reflecting changing dynamics in New York’s real estate landscape.

This iconic home, graced with family photos and a cozy kitchen, boasts three bedrooms, including a luxurious master suite with a closet larger than most New York apartments. Despite parting ways with De Niro, Hightower remains tight-lipped about their relationship but fondly refers to him as ‘my children’s father.’ Their past together, spanning from 1987 to 2018, holds memories both joyful and challenging.

One such challenge was a fiery incident in 2012 when lint sparked a blaze in their apartment, causing devastating losses. Amidst the chaos, Hightower’s quick actions ensured the safety of their infant daughter, showcasing her strength in the face of adversity.

After renovations, the home was rejuvenated, ushering in a new chapter for Hightower. The emotional journey of rebuilding after the fire brought a change in energy, symbolizing resilience in the face of trials.

Despite disagreements with De Niro over renting during renovations, the couple found solace in different West Side locations before settling in a prestigious Central Park building. Their journey together, marked by challenges like a minor fire, echoes the ups and downs of life in the city.

As Hightower prepares to move on, her next destination remains unknown. However, she’s sure of one thing – wherever she lands, it’ll be surrounded by nature, reminiscent of her Mississippi roots. With a deep connection to walking and meditation, she seeks a serene spot near the park, where the rustle of leaves whispers of home.
