Jets Draft Upset: Isaiah Davis as New RB for 2024 Season!

The Jets were on a mission to bolster their offense during the 2024 NFL Draft, and they continued to add talent on Saturday by picking running back Isaiah Davis in the fifth round. Davis, hailing from South Dakota State, was chosen as the 173rd overall pick.

This marked the Jets’ second running back selection of the draft, following their pick of Braelon Allen from Wisconsin in the fourth round. With Davis on board, the Jets are assembling a diverse and dynamic backfield, which includes Breece Hall and Israel Abanikanda.

Davis brings an impressive college resume to the Jets, having been a prominent three-year starter. In 2023, he showcased his prowess by leading the FCS in rushing with an impressive 1,578 yards and finding the end zone 18 times. Notably, Davis played a pivotal role in South Dakota State’s back-to-back national championship victories, contributing significantly to the team’s remarkable 29-1 record.

The Jets’ decision to prioritize offensive players in this year’s draft became evident with Davis being the third consecutive offensive player selected that day. In fact, Davis marked the fifth offensive player chosen overall by the Jets in the draft, underscoring their commitment to strengthening their offensive arsenal.

As the Jets reinforce their roster, the addition of Isaiah Davis is poised to inject speed, power, and skill into their running game. With a blend of emerging talents and experienced players, the Jets are setting the stage for an exciting and competitive season ahead. Stay tuned for more updates as the Jets gear up for the upcoming NFL season.
